A blood test can identify cancer patients likely to suffer severe nausea from chemotherapy, enabling preventive medication strategies.
This validation cohort (n=202) confirmed that a blood-based algorithm incorporating red blood cell glutathione recycling capacity can predict delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea severity in platinum-treated cancer patients. An individualized predictive tool for CINV would enable targeted upfront antiemetic prophylaxis and is relevant to hematologic malignancy patients on platinum regimens.
