In a cohort of 40 South African women (68% HIV+, 50% vaccinated), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination did not substantially alter CD4+ or CD8+ T lymphocyte levels irrespective of HIV status, suggesting the vaccine does not significantly perturb existing T-cell immunity in this population. The finding provides reassurance for vaccine safety in HIV-affected women but is limited by small sample size.
