Impact of SGLT2 inhibitors on nutritional and immunologic status in chronic heart failure.
A common diabetes drug used for heart failure also improves nutritional and immune health, expanding its benefits.
This observational study of chronic heart failure patients found that SGLT2 inhibitor treatment improved nutritional and immunologic status parameters beyond glycemic control. The findings expand the mechanistic understanding of SGLT2 inhibitor benefits in HF and may explain part of the survival benefit seen in large trials.
