Specific airway bacteria correlate with immune patterns and immunotherapy response in lung cancer, opening possibilities for microbiome-guided treatment.
In 350 lung adenocarcinoma patients, lower airway microbiome diversity showed no independent prognostic effect but specific microbial taxa correlated with PD-1/PD-L1 pathway and Treg patterns, suggesting a microbiome-immunity axis that may influence immunotherapy response. These findings support microbiome-based biomarker and intervention research in lung cancer.
