Near-term implementable finding

Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic syndrome predicts the development of cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a 10-years prospective analysis from the CARMA cohort.

A metabolic risk syndrome predicts heart attacks more strongly in arthritis patients than general populations, arguing for routine risk screening in this group.

CKM syndrome significantly predicts cardiovascular events in rheumatoid arthritis with greater effect than in the general population, validated over 10 years in the CARMA cohort. This supports incorporation of CKM syndrome assessment into routine RA cardiovascular risk management.

Why it surfaced

10-year prospective CARMA cohort; novel application of CKM syndrome to RA; addresses high CV burden in a specific at-risk population.
