Cell-Free DNA Analysis With Clinicopathologic Factors for Early Detection and Refining Lymph Node Metastasis Risk in T1 Colorectal Cancer: Results From the COSMOS-CRC Study.

Combining a blood DNA test with standard factors better predicts which early colorectal cancers can be safely removed without surgery.

The COSMOS-CRC multicenter prospective study demonstrated that integrating cfDNA profiling with standard clinicopathologic factors creates a superior predictive model for lymph node metastasis risk in T1 colorectal cancer. The composite approach could help identify T1 CRC patients who can safely undergo endoscopic resection, reducing unnecessary radical surgery and associated morbidity.
