A new drug targeting MALT1 shows promise in lab and animal models of aggressive T-cell leukemia, particularly for patients whose tumors have specific genetic markers.
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) is an aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis; this study developed CRD-1441551, a selective MALT1 protease inhibitor, and tested it across 8 ATL models in vitro and in vivo. Therapeutic sensitivity correlated with constitutive MALT1-NF-κB activation, suggesting CRD-1441551 preferentially targets a defined ATL subset and laying groundwork for a biomarker-stratified clinical strategy.
