Near-term implementable finding

The diagnostic utility of the soluble CD25-to-ferritin ratio in lymphoma-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.

A simple blood test ratio helps doctors identify which patients with a rare immune condition have hidden lymphoma.

This 3-institution US retrospective cohort (n=126) validates the sCD25/ferritin ratio as a useful biomarker for identifying lymphoma-associated HLH, with AUC=0.74 and strong NPV (83.3%). The findings support using this easily obtained ratio as a risk-enrichment tool to prioritize evaluation for occult lymphoma in HLH, though tissue diagnosis remains essential.

Why it surfaced

Multicenter US validation of sCD25/ferritin ratio for LAHS; practical biomarker using routine lab values; strong NPV (83%) aids clinical decision-making; addresses a diagnostically challenging and high-mortality condition.
