Near-term implementable finding

AI-Based Delirium Risk Prediction Compared With the Validated 4AT-Score Screening Tool in Patients With Trauma: Prospective Cohort Study.

An AI tool using hospital records identifies which trauma patients will develop delirium 3 times more reliably than current bedside screening, allowing earlier preventive care.

This prospective study of 2002 trauma patients found that an AI tool using EHR data dramatically outperformed the validated 4AT-Score for early delirium risk identification (87.3% vs 28.0% sensitivity), enabling proactive management. The AI tool enables risk stratification at admission rather than waiting for syndrome onset.
