Long-acting colony-stimulating factors may support immunotherapy efficacy better than short-acting versions, warranting prospective trials.
While granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is used to prevent and treat chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, it also regulates key immune cells and may therefore affect the efficacy of immunotherapy. Prospective randomized trials are required to validate these findings and guide clinical practice.
